The leader of the Green Party says he wants to legalise all drugs. Speaking to BBC South East, Zack Polanski said he agreed with a Kent councillor who called for the legalisation of all drugs, including class A drugs like heroin and crack cocaine. Labour says: Keep our Streets drug free.

Labour & Tories alike have failed to keep the streets drugs-free for 50yrs+. You've only succeeded in creating a thriving, unmitigated drug free-for-all, and the dealers love it. You're kidding nobody. Stop wasting our taxes on policing that'll never work and get your act together. "Change" my arse.

Like alcohol prohibition in the 1920s US, drug prohibition has been an utter failure. It has criminalised users, making it more difficult for those with a problem to get help and put the supply in the hands of gangs. It's time for a different approach guided by public health.
