I played TB2 when I was a kid, but I never progressed much. I thought it was difficult, but there's more to it than that. The controls are really awkward, and the jumps require pinpoint precision. The game makes you do crazy acrobatics, yet Lara loses health easily from falls and the numerous traps.

Still, I found the exploration and puzzles satisfying. I particularly appreciated TB1 for this, though getting used to the controls was frustrating. I had high expectations for TB2, but it was the one I liked the least. The developers made the game stressfull due to the large number of enemies,

The controls *are* what easily allows the pinpoint precision, the thing is that you gotta learn them well first and not everyone has the patience. To be fair though, TR2 starts with a short but very dangerous level, unlike TR1 which eases you into it, so no progressing much in TR2 makes sense.
