I don't know who could move the goalposts. This is death certificate data, filled out by healthcare professionals, recorded by counties, reported by states and compiled by the CDC. The CDC provided guidelines to healthcare professionals in 2020, and those haven't changed.

The guidelines are basically the same as for any other cause of death, symptomatic diagnosis confirmed with testing.

I'm fairly confident that this data is accurate as the wastewater and hospitalization data is following the exact same pattern.
