On to some people who WERE around when I was just starting out, and DID make me insufferable, starting with the main man, Don Ross. Fucking hell, I’d give so much to play like him. Lore: one night at open mic, a dude covered this song just before I went up, pre-shaming me. youtu.be/F7wagf26gJ4

Don Ross deserves a lot more than a casual mention here. There is no single guitarist, not even Clapton or Neil Young, that so influenced the very shape of my desire to play guitar. More lore: he played the first Stan Rogers folk festival in Canso, but I’d broken my leg so couldn’t go. Devastating.

On to another guitarist: Erik Mongrain This is the only song of his that resonated with me, but it struck deep, and still has hooks in me. youtu.be/AbndgwfG22k
