I remember where I was. We went to bed still holding out hope, but uneasy. I woke up the next morning and grabbed my phone. I saw the results and I rolled over onto my still sleeping husband and I cried. I was grieving for the future I had envisioned for us, and I still am.

I'll keep fighting and I still have hope, but it's healthy to let yourself grieve sometimes, too. The US will never be the same.

Sometimes it's hard not to grieve. I grieve for my students who despite all of this, despite the Right's rejection of their contributions to this country, still want to make the world a better place. I grieve for the family I wanted to start, which is now a much more dangerous endeavor for me.
