Looking up at the majolica dome of the church of San Michele in the old town of Alghero, north-western Sardinia. The dome is clad in glazed scale-shaped tiles in green, yellow, blue, red and dark brown; above it stands an octagonal stone lantern with narrow windows, topped by a small tiled cupola and a weathervane in the shape of a fish. The church was rebuilt from 1612 by the Jesuits; the tiled covering dates from around 1950, credited to the architect Antoni Simon Mossa with the painter Filippo Figari. Beautiful. I remember a wonderful visit in Alghero over 10 years ago. And my first 1m pizza experience! 1m? I was shocked, as I had never heard that before 🤯 In the end nothing was left over 😅
