I'm not a professed Batman enjoyer and find him kind of boring to read but I've been trying to be better about reading the DC "classics" that are self contained. This was a fun experience, lots of stylish visual storytelling and a story that shows up in the newer Batman stuff /2

The character designs were closer to campy than the cleaner newer Batman designs, the mystery was compelling, and there were jokes and cute little panels that embrace some silliness in the sad Gotham streets. Overall I wanted to see more Catwoman and Poison Ivy but /3

I can see why it's a classic and the real reason I picked it up was for a local comic book club so I feel I'll have plenty to say. Give it a read if you liked the newer Batman movies (Reeves and Nolan) since they take lots of inspo from this story. /Final
