I wonder whether the shruggish assumption of “find a rich partner” / “all writers have had to marry rich”, is partly because there is an expectation (from some corners) to be discreet about non-writing 9-5s?
@anakinsella.bsky.socialI appreciate any and all discussion of how writers make money but I do find the 'find a rich partner' stuff a bit grating. Having any partner tends to removes some financial precarity. But the vast majority of writers I know (without generational wealth) earn their own money, work their own jobs
