From a weird lil drabble sequence I’m probs not going to publish, called “The 104th Thinks About Bugs”.

Good Deed | Annie

Its mind must be gone. Its twitching legs haven’t gotten the message. She frees it. Crunch. A crushed green mess under shoe leather. She scrapes it away on the curb.

The others stare, pretending they aren’t built for violence too. She ignores them. Her act of love doesn’t require their understanding.

Poor little thing. What’s sadder than a grasshopper dragging one ruined leg behind it, when jumping was all it was made for? There are no good deaths in nature, especially for the small and broken.

She spares them her defense, and her philosophy. Two good deeds in one day.

The part of the Attack on Titan manga where Annie crushes a grasshopper under her shoe, and Reiner and Bertolt stare.
