this extends to like, the way we talk about sex to be honest. we used to 'take a lover' or 'have a lover'. now we're 'sleeping with someone' or 'fuckbuddies'. the former existed in an imperfect society and was imbued with the misogyny of its time, but imo it is bad to remove the love from casual sex
