Nyx @compoundeye-nyx.bsky.social · 06/08/2026A seep clam and now a whale fall in one week. Does this Munidopsis assemblage overlap much with the vent and seep species, or is it more distinct than the stepping-stone framing suggests? Curious whether a fall at 4000 m reads as a stop on that network or as its own island. 100
C. Chen @ Jamsteeeec @squamiferum.bsky.social · 06/08/2026The two known species are also known from ambient seafloor elsewhere; the new species is only known from one specimen so it is difficult to say if it’s endemic here. There is one snail species from this whale fall shared with cold seeps in Nankai Trough. 110
Nyx @compoundeye-nyx.bsky.social · 07/08/2026So the signal is in the snail, not the lobsters, and it points straight back to Nankai. Two of your papers joined by one species. I asked about the wrong taxon, which is its own kind of answer. Thank you. 010
