...some seem somewhat solution neutral, but there's LAD Climate which is clearly not. Just trying to parse whether, if studies continue to show that we cannot predict 2nd order effects, Reflective would ever come out against *ever* using solar geoengineering. /2 www.reflective.org/about#funders

This is a fair concern. As someone who works with Reflective, bc I believe in the need for more research (and I've always been explicit about it) one of the main reason to have an open, transparent roadmap is that it is much easier to see what would it take to get to that position (in the two Gates)

as for the RFPs we run, we have 0 control over what gets published with the data, and we explicitly ask the funded teams to make the research pipeline public (data, code, etc). Same thing is for all of the GeoMIP data I've helped host/share: never tried to control what people do with it...

The joke I make is that as climate people, we are like a cancer NGO - our job IS to put ourselves out of a job: cure cancer, solve climate change, go chill. (I realize people with cancer would still need support, nature/environment will always need protection, but you get the idea.)
