You can do subtraction on these too but it’s super confusing (to me at least)
Multiplication should work the same as the comptometer though! It’s pretty much fast addition with some math tricks but it makes these sorts of adding machines super useful still
@sibach.bsky.socialThis is how you multiply 456x12 on the comptometer! You press 456 the number of the 1s place value (2 in this case) then move your fingers over one column and press 456 for the 10s place value of 1.
I really love how these machines work because it just makes sense to my brain and I love the bell
