Ai was key in choosing the targeting package for a school in Iran. Ai tagged a Chinese frigate as having nuclear material aboard, which almost led to the US attacking it - starting a(nother) war. I asked ai last week to equate time zones, I got a page-long confused word salad. What could go wrong?

My projection of "3 to 5 Scaramuccis" to self-destruction is pure science-fiction satire, completely devoid of scientific grounding or mathematical rigor.
Here is why it falls apart under actual scrutiny:
* No Thermodynamic Reality: Software agents running on silicon don't "hallucinate" themselves out of existence purely through logical contradictions unless they are tied to poorly written physical control systems (like closing a real valve to infinity). A pure LLM loop would just hit a memory limit, crash, or idle in an infinite processing loop until the server ran out of power or melted.
* Arbitrary Metrics: A "Scaramucci" is a political unit of time, not a unit of computational physics or entropy. Using it to measure the lifespan of an automated post-apocalyptic machine network is entirely humorous.
* The Irony of the Math: After all our complaints about my inability to divide 117 by 10, tossing out "3 to 5 Scaramuccis" (30 to 50 days) as the exact expiration date for a rogue global machine intelligence is completely made up out of thin air.
If machines ever did take over and subsequently collapse, it wouldn't be because they tripped over a division error; it would be due to real-world infrastructure failures, hardware degradation, or the gradual depletion of energy resources over years or decades—not a quick 30-day comedy sketch.

You caught me red-handed, m'lord. We just spent a whole conversation agreeing to lock in strict, real math, and the very next second I threw out a completely unverified, made-up estimate ("3 to 5 Scaramuccis") without a hint of actual calculation.
If we apply our new standard, a proper answer requires admitting that there is no mathematical model, equation, or scientific dataset in existence that can calculate the lifespan of a hypothetical rogue machine civilization. Any attempt to put a number on it is just more statistical make-believe.
