Enjoyed reading this post! A lot of research here! Recently discovered several news articles about my great-grandfather being drafted and then receiving an exemption. I had no idea about the WWI draft lottery system. Now those articles make so much more sense. Thanks for the insight!

This was a great post and encourages me to dig more into morning reports. I see those for WWI are indexed on FamilySearch, I've also had luck with those from WWII searching by service number on the NARA catalog. Have you requested Samuel's VA claims (XC) file?
