omg i never thought about it this way but you are totally right. these are people who get off on feeling like they have the moral high ground but deep down (very deep down) they know they're pieces of shit
When fascists win, centrists get to feel good about themselves because they are kinder and more tolerant than those people. When progressives win, centrists find themselves cruel and narrow minded by comparison, and can't bear that feeling.
@somewhattolerable.comThis all reminds me of the reactions to DSA wins here. A lot of the centrists are much more comfortable with fascism than with democratic socialism.
