Apple learned the wrong lesson from the iPhone - that the crowning glory of a product is to do all things.
But the iPhone ran where the iPod steamrolled a path first. Doing one thing in the mobile form factor well taught them how to do many things well. Starting with many things leads to failure.
Today’s Apple is too afraid of building something that can’t do everything that anyone can imagine.
I want constraints.
I want trade-offs.
I want purpose-built enjoyment.
