This touches on two concepts from @edzitron.com - the Rot Economy and the Business Idiot. Tech is out of ideas and needs to perform innovation to pump up stock. It signals innovation by putting new features into shit, even when no one needs them. Features like "MS Teams in your car."

But "Teams in your car" is doubly appealing to them because of how the software-as-a-service (SaaS) business model works. Employers pay per-seat, so the more shit you can load onto that seat, the more you can wheedle out of them. Unsubscribing is effectively impossible - a multi-year $$$ project.
