ChatGPT was a tech demo that succeeded by accident, because the form factor made it super cool for demos. It then proceeded to solve no actual problems, because the chat UI is terrible for that. Jamming LLMs into other form factors has had zero success anywhere else, but not for lack of trying!

Real products that use LLMs to do something useful exist. Why don't you know about them? Because the value proposition isn't "it has AI in it." The value proposition is "it does a thing that you would like to have done." The tech on the backend isn't relevant.

Jobs didn't say a single thing about capacitive multitouch in the iPhone presentation, even though it (and the rest of the smartphone sensor suite like GPS, accelerometer, camera, and mic) was what underpinned the experience. He talked about the experience itself.
