Managers embracing AI are not doing this, because they don't see their job as fixing systems. They see themselves as a supervisor who monitors the peasants and then reports to their manager what the yield of cabbage is going to be this year. Sort of like professional Umarell.

Funnily enough this comes at a time when layoffs are ripping up existing systems, flushing irreplaceable organizational knowledge down the drain. The answer these managers give is "just use AI" because they are not competent to rebuild the broken system, or even see it.

This is where "strategy" like "make the metric go up 10%" or "we are going to do a 20% layoff" comes from in the first place: a complete lack of understanding of the system they are supposed to be managing. The extra 10% output is meant to be achieved by the heroic willpower of the worker alone.
