You don't see readers convincing writers that AI is "just as good." They vote with their feet; the people who believe that AI slop is better simply don't need to buy a book ever again because ChatGPT will generate unlimited books tailored to their exact specifications. Are readers doing this? No.

But you do see publishers (and wannabes craving the respect authors get without doing the work) spill more ink arguing "it's just as good! honest!!" than it would have taken to just write a book in the first place. The argument is "this is what you deserve, learn to like what you are given."

You don't see employees telling employers "this AI output is just as good as the thing you pay me to produce." Well, not for very long, anyway - they'd get fired immediately, because employers know it isn't. There's a reason that every hiring process now says front and center "you cannot use AI."
