Connecting threads so I can find them later - the toxic generalist is often a Powerpoint ronin who does not even begin to suspect that there is a degree of complexity to the situation they are blundering into, and believes that "simply" following the List Of Best Practices works in every context.

This specifically is a huge pet peeve of mine, of the "everyone is stupid except me" variety. Agile is over 20 years old. Some companies are in double-digit years of their Agile transformation. If it were as simple as "read the manifesto and then Do That" someone would've already made it work.

This is adjacent to the ‘smartest guy in the room’ syndrome that is so prevalent in the technology world. With an animating belief that all problems are tractable by super smart people using ‘first principles thinking’. This is the foundational myth of the tech bro.

Execs don't like Agile because it means they can't secure overly defined multi-million dollar contracts, so they choose Waterfall instead even while saying they are "Agile".
