But nearly every exec has AI-pilled *themselves* already, and think they're AI pros. There's no need to have a complete theory of how AI will actually help people become more productive. Just like e.g. Scrum, it's taken at face value that we must simply do it because it is the done thing.

The barely informed generalist is incapable of judging depth, only breadth. So when hiring, they will prefer to hire grifters over specialists every time. As a bonus, the specialists often disagree with them, while the grifters never do, and execs love collecting yes-men like Pokémon.

The existence of the toxic generalist is a bane. Besides the lack of merit, they've conditioned an entire generation of execs to expect the archetype of the "genius autodidact". To succeed in many companies today you have to pretend to be such a person to even be get in the room.

The specialist is also going to ask follow-up questions - hard questions! - about your requests. This means you might actually have to do some work. That's scary! A vibe coder will say "yes sir!" and cheerfully go off making assumptions at random because neither of you understands the nuance.
