The entire principle of being an opposition party is that you don't accept the frame! Take control of the narrative! It's what the Republicans do and they keep winning despite being shit because the Dems reinforce every single one of their narratives by saying shit like this.

The "border crisis" is the same thing. The Democrat response wasn't "this isn't actually a thing that's happening" but "would you accept 50% less pointless cruelty?" Of course the answer is no. Why would anyone want Diet Republicans when the full-evil version is on the same ballot?

Pavel, thank you! Conceding the "waste, fraud, abuse" frame is a huge mistake, as it is on the border or on any tentacle of the trans oppression movement now, and was on the BLM movement. Validating the lies just keeps everything marching rightward.

If you are an academic with concerns about these fields of study and this kind of scholarship, and I’ll be honest and say I think legitimate ones do exist, then you have to realize: these people are lying to you, their concerns *are not your concerns*.
