I will add two caveats to this:
- Being able to say "I told you so" later is cathartic but not actually valuable
- Puffing up a manager's ego by "validating" what they were going to do anyway can earn a high salary but is the definition of a Bullshit Job, a la Graeber
But, like, that's the job. If all we did was confirm what our stakeholders already believed, we didn't actually deliver any value.
And optimizing the velocity at which no-value is delivered has only one logical conclusion. Zero must equal zero.
