A magnitude 7.6 earthquake occurred offshore North of Honduras and southwest of the Cayman Islands at 23:23:14 UTC time. The depth to the epicentre is 10km deep. This shallow depth and large magnitude initially triggered many tsunami warnings which have been cancelled.
