#09Ghoap Meddling 'verse snippet for #WIPWednesday (proof I'm actually working on things! well, sometimes.) Look Ma, they're talking! And no one got hurt this time! :D

a snippet from ellipsus, off-white text on a deep red-brown background

Sitting on the cottage's porch step, Ghost lets himself get lost in the rumbling of Laird Willie's purr beneath his fingers. It's why he almost misses the sound of a door closing; but only almost.

Looking up, he sees John beginning his limp across the yard, toward the main house. His leg is dragging more than usual, obviously aggravated— oh.

"Wrong side," Ghost calls out before he can stop himself. Pausing, John turns and finally spots him.

"Th'fuck ye on about?" the alpha snaps, lip curling. Guess his leg isn't the only aggravated thing today.

"You're using the crutch on your right side," he explains evenly. "Offsets your balance, puts more weight on your bad leg. Shit for your wrist, too. Should be on your left."

That should've been explained to him in hospital. Hell, he likely should've know even before that. John was special services, Ghost doubts this had been his first leg injury.

A flicker of recognition graces the man's expression, there and gone in a blink. /end alt text.
