it's #snippetsaturday yippee \o/ more meddling 'verse because yes. No Soap this time, but remember Iona's little tiff with Ghost? Actions have consequences. ⚠ CW! - implied/referenced past child abuse #Ghoap #09Ghoap

His reflection stares back at him, and on his left cheek, just below the bone, sits a palm sized, purpled bruise. It's not deep, will likely start yellowing by tomorrow, but it stands out against the stark white lines of scar tissue.

Unsettled, Ghost looks away, ends up staring at the white-knuckled grip he has on the vanity. He hates this, bruising like a peach; it makes him feel delicate, frail. His skin used to be thicker, before everything.

Even wearing the gaiter, it'll still be partially visible, and Ghost really isn't looking forward to that conversation. Christ, it feels like he's nine again, hoping his teacher won't ask any questions.

(Dropped a glass, mouthed off. Two stitches in his lip. Told her,"S'nothin, Mrs Williams, I fell off my bicycle yesterday s'all." )

Resigned, he quietly slips back down the hall and into the bedroom. It's just his luck that Roach is already awake. He looks up as Ghost shuts the door behind himself.

"Hey, do y- What-" he's immediately on his feet and standing in front of Ghost. With a gentle hand on his chin, Roach directs him to turn his head so he can inspect the bruise. "Someone hit you."

It's not a question, so Ghost says nothing. He gently pushes Roach's arm away, moving around him.

Naturally, Roach isn't about to drop the matter, "Who?"

"Roach, s'nothin," he digs his e-reader out of his bag, sitting on his bed and propped against the wall. "Don't worry about it."

"Ghost-" he's interrupted by a light knock, followed by Lorna's voice.

"If ye lads are up, Neil's makin breakfast," she informs from the other side of the door.

Ooooo I don’t like Iona right now. She’s gonna feel like a fool once Gary gets the whole story from Simon. Cause think he won’t let what John said go unknown.
