People who care about public lands, a huge cross section of society from liberals to conservatives, have been calling their Sens and telling them to kill the land sale lingo. I've seen threats to public land span normal partisan divides a number of times in my career.

The Lochsa Land Exchange that died because of public oppo is one example. I thought it would happen this time too. But so much has changed in our politics over the last 10 years, so many rifts have separated us that I had at least an inkling of doubt.
