Why is our Secretary of Defense so interested in the male troops?

The Pentagon’s new testosterone testing mandate, officially issued by the Defense Health Agency following an initiative by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, requires mandatory annual testosterone screenings for male active-duty and reserve service members aged 30 and older. The core details of the clinical guidance and policy include:📋 Testing Protocols:
Age 30 and Older (Mandatory): Male troops in this bracket must receive mandatory blood tests for testosterone deficiency as part of their routine annual Periodic Health Assessments (PHAs).
Under Age 30 (Optional): Younger male service members are not mandated to take the test but can volunteer to be screened upon request, or if military clinicians identify warning signs.
