Widdy @widdy1.bsky.social · 23/07/2026One thing I see pop up with shoddy German translations from time to time is a disregard to keep text length similar to the (usually English) originals, which can often be a problem because German has very long words. 120
Widdy @widdy1.bsky.social · 23/07/2026For example: A literal translation of “Restart Level“ would be „Level neu starten“, when „Neustart“ would communicate it just as effectively. Or one example from my game is that I translated “Speed“ as „Tempo“ instead of the more common „Geschwindigkeit“ so it could better fit in the UI. 120
