Summary of this fanfic posted on Archive Of Our Own.

“Doug has been trying to tell her that she likes Jade—more than in just a friend way—but she refuses to let him know he’s right. Refuses to tell him that she does in fact feel the first blooms of love grow but Summer’s not going to admit that in a field of lilacs surrounded by a crowd of loveable idiots who probably have bets on this.

No. She will not give in. So, she retrains her thought on the blank page in front of her and pays no mind to Jade’s laughter that creates butterflies in her stomach. Pays no mind to Doug’s belief that she and Jade are “destined to be together” or his insistence that Jade likes Summer back and focuses instead on the art diary in her lap whose blank page calls to be painted like the scenes found in church windows. The ones that tell stories of godhood and legends in colours that attempt to match the sunset.

So, Summer paints.

Or; 5 times Summer gave Jade a flower and the 1 time Jade finally realised what they meant.”
