Tangentially related, but I think the big push for physical media also misses the point. You don't "own" a DRM'd game in a disc any more than one you had to download.
old news by now but "right to repair" and owning what you buy have become trendy clichés... every third youtuber is building something "you actually own" that doesn't actually replace anything subscription based or licensed
