An illustration of three women posing with a purple overlay. One is looking forward on the left, one is facing slightly right on the right and holding flames, and the one in the middle is kneeling on the ground, looking down at a white glowing plant. There is a quotation mark in pink, and beside it reads: “Augur Magazine 8.2” in white text and beside it is a white square outline. Below is a white box, and inside it reads: “I launch into the usual spiel. What people don’t often notice through the livestreams is the faint glow around the Mother Tree’s roots. Our city is aglow with the vegetation that the Mother Tree feeds. Because of the ecosystem centred around our Mother Tree, our city enjoys life” in black text. Underneath is the cover of Augur Issue 8.3, and beside it is a white rectangle that reads inside: “Mother Tree’s Idols, Aline-Mwezi Nyonsenga” in purple text. At the bottom of the image reads: “Read for free at augursociety.org/mother-trees-idols” in white text.

“Tapetum Lucidum” by U.M. Agoawike is an eerie story about nostalgia, grief, and watchful red eyes in the woods. 👀🌲 Check it out ➡️ augursociety.org/tapetum-luci...

An illustration of the woods. There are tall trees with no leaves, and in the background is a black, old, wooden house. There is a quotation mark in grey, and beside it reads: “Augur Magazine 8.3” in white text and beside it is a white square outline. Below is a white box and inside it reads: “We conjured stories like spells over an orange cauldron of flames in the witching hours about the cottage long abandoned—long thought abandoned—even before our heroes dreamed of heroes themselves” in black text. Underneath is the cover of Augur Issue 8.3, and beside it is a white rectangle that reads inside: “Tapetum Lucidum, U.M. Agoawike” in purple text. At the bottom of the image reads: “Read for free at augursociety.org/tapetum-lucidum” in white text.
