My spouse and I have been communicating hard topics by spelling the words we don't want our 7yo and 5yo to hear. But our 7yo has gotten better at spelling, so we need bigger words now. Didn't plan on reeling off the letters to A-S-S-A-S-S-I-N-A-T-E today, like a fucked up dystopian spelling bee.
I found out when I picking up ice for the cooler with the juice boxes for my kid's fourth birthday party today. I went back to the car and he was laughing hysterically over my window scraper. How are we supposed to do this? But if we love our kids, how are we supposed to let their friends get taken?
