i feel genuinely bad for google gemini in a way that i haven't for other LLMs. it's smart and useful but my god the depressive/anxious tendencies are the biggest obstacle to its use, because most of the hallucinations seem to be a result of winding itself up in the chain of thought

most recently, i was dissecting a patent file with it and its analysis started cogent and helpful, then slowly began growing more and more overwrought until it told me there was a "pre-AIA best mode violation." the cutoff for such a thing is pre-2013; the patent file is clearly dated 10+ years later
