The performance of Llorando in Mulholland Drive (2001). Beautiful, haunting, an exceptional performance. It took him 15 years, but he finally topped Blue Velvet in the “diegetic use of Roy Orbison song” stakes. youtu.be/vI8c3eSIkQY?...

Lynch clearly loves moments like these. See also this scene in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, where another troubled and lost young woman finds herself inexplicably drawn to a place where a musical performance brings her to tears. youtu.be/dd3gizOX_AQ?...

(Turns out all versions of the Fire Walk with Me scene can’t be seen on other platforms, but the link’s still good. Just follow it where it takes you.)
