From The Mission (1986), Gabriel (Jeremy Irons) plays his oboe in the Paraguayan jungle near Iguazu Falls to try and ingratiate himself with the local Guaraní tribe. youtu.be/lAoT2ktM2H0?...

Ennio Morricone once said that this was his favourite of his own scores, and he was quite disappointed when it didn’t get the Oscar. Relatedly, subsequent rule changes meant that the score that won that year, ‘Round Midnight (which is also really good), probably wouldn’t have even been eligible.

The opening to Desperado (1995). Tarantino once talked about using Miserlou for Pulp Fiction being like throwing down a gauntlet that the rest of the movie now had to live up to. I feel similar about this scene for Desperado, cause it’s so good. youtu.be/w5fLGWrHouk?...
