I first saw ANDRÉ IS AN IDIOT at Sundance 2025 and liked it. Two months later, my own father was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. Upon rewatch this doc revealed itself to be something much richer than its humorous approach would suggest. My four star review for @ebertvoices.bsky.social:

I did the Q&A with the director at last year's Newport Film Festival. I can't review the movie until it comes out in Boston on 3/20, but I liked it a lot.

looking up when I logged this during Sundance. . .my Dad died of colon cancer exactly four months to the day after I first watched this film. I don't know that means, but it's spooky.

Marya, thank you so much for getting the word out about this film. I haven't seen it, but will seek it out. I literally got a colonoscopy TODAY! Thank God everything looks good, but you're right: everyone needs to get checked. Thank you!
