This is exactly why we open sourced workerd and built miniflare. Local dev with the actual Cloudflare Workers runtime, not “something like it.”

That could mean cloud hosted control planes, with the data plane running locally. It can be the best of both worlds. Docker Desktop is attempting to do this.
