It is hard to quantify in tonnes what the impact is, so I need to do some calculations. Petroleum cargos are normally standardised to 15°C. For this calculation I'm using a diesel density of 835.9 kg/m³ at 15°C, or 0.8359 tonnes per cubic metre. This allows us to compare volumes consistently.

Volume = mass divided by density. 300,000 tonnes divided by 0.8359 tonnes/m³ = 358,895 m³. So the initial promise is around 359 million litres of diesel. It sounds enormous until we look at the ships that would carry it.

Take an illustrative large product carrier with 12 tanks, each holding 10,000 m³. That gives 120,000 m³ total tank volume. At a hypothetical 98% working capacity, we have 117,600 m³ available for cargo. So we are looking at an LR2 vessel for demonstration.
