1/20 After the RNLI rage - back to #TheHormuzCrisis. Saudi Arabia is changing tack as it has not found a way around Hormuz. It has built a relay through it. That is a very different thing, and it tells us much more about where this crisis is heading than the headline oil price does right now.

2/20 The original Saudi workaround was obvious. Move crude west across the Kingdom through the East-West pipeline, load it at Yanbu, and avoid Hormuz altogether. That route reduced reliance on a Strait which has remained contested for months and increasingly difficult to insure.

3/20 However, that solution had a weakness. The Red Sea was already becoming more dangerous, and last week the East-West pipeline itself was shut after a drone attack. Saudi Arabia suddenly lost much of the route it had been using to take Hormuz out of the export equation.
