9/26 Bab al-Mandeb is not simply a second Hormuz. It connects the Indian Ocean to the Red Sea and Suez, exposing container ships, vehicle carriers, tankers, bulk carriers and general cargo, while diversion around Africa remains possible but consumes time and capacity with every extra day.

10/26 The threat there is also layered. Missiles, aerial drones and explosive surface vessels are demonstrated capabilities. Mines remain a serious possibility, while GPS disruption, false AIS information or deceptive radio calls can make every physical threat harder to interpret at sea.
