7/15 Six ships getting through does not prove that Hormuz is open. It proves that passage remains selectively possible for vessels whose risk tolerance permit it. That is controlled access, not restored freedom of navigation in law. Something I cover in the first volume of #TheHormuzCrisis.

8/15 There are secondary effects starting to show commercially too. Chinese shipping companies that formerly carried around half of China's Middle Eastern oil imports have kept their tankers away since late July. That is a commercial decision made before shortages reach the consumer at home.

9/15 The recent attacks explain the caution. Minoan Dignity was struck outbound, damaging its engine room and killing a seafarer. The UKMTO also disclosed another bulk-carrier strike on 15 August, with starboard damage and another crew casualty. Oman's Coast Guard assisted the remaining crew.
