1) 🇬🇧 Good news from the UK: the government is investing 4.75 million pounds in the study "Sequence ME & Long Covid" It will allow the sequencing of 6000 ME/CFS samples previously collected through DecodeME. The project is led by the University of Edinburgh and Action for ME.

2) DecodeME used a slightly older technique that made it possible to read thousands of DNA samples at low cost. But it could only look at common DNA variants. This new long-read technique by Oxford Nanopore Technologies will give a much higher 'resolution.'

3) The Nanopore method will make it possible to look at rare DNA variants that are associated with ME/CFS. These are likely to have more dramatic effects and will help to pinpoint genes and biological pathways involved in ME/CFS pathology. It means we will have better clues.
