Rapid technological change, especially generative AI, is reshaping industries faster than labour laws can adapt. Federal policy shouldn't prop up corporate AI – an industry behind data theft, job losses, a dangerous stock market bubble, and massive resource waste.

Rein in Artificial Intelligence. Pause the expansion of AI data centers in Canada to protect our clean water and preserve our energy. Reject AI austerity. Provide a public-service “human guarantee” so people can always talk to a real person when accessing federal services.

Workers in the gig economy face precarious working conditions, low pay, and no protections. Meanwhile, trillion-dollar tech corporations are profiting off artists, journalists, musicians, writers, and filmmakers – while paying little or nothing. We need a new vision for the digital economy.

Defend workers’ rights. Introduce a bill of rights for gig workers to guarantee labour protections, collective bargaining rights, and fair wages. Build a 21st-Century Copyright Charter to guarantee fair compensation, enforce workers’ rights, and modernize licensing. Rein in digital surveillance in the workplace. Require AI transparency and consent from all Canadian companies.

Right now, only 1 in 3 unemployed people can access the EI they pay into, with eligibility barriers hitting part-time, gig, and self-employed workers hardest. We need a robust EI program that is accessible, universal, and adequate.

EI that works for workers. Expand employment insurance so that it’s accessible and universal. Increase EI benefits to 75% of previous earnings. Eliminate the 50-week limit on combined parental special benefits and regular benefits.
