Nostalgia is fine! You just can't let it blind you to the now. Hell, I wrote a villanelle poem about it last semester.

Nostalgia

Comfort past quiets the mind.
Soothing, bittersweet, come and gone.
Let no consequence blind.

Delusion warps magnificent maligned
and passing time bends horrid halcyon.
Comfort past quiets the mind.

Days spent reflecting people unkind
are sad conclusions foregone.
Let no consequence blind.

Lost love commemorated, enshrined
above heart’s hearth; damned to dwell upon.
Comfort past quiets the mind.

Traveled places succumb to entropy; resigned
to exist in mind eye’s faulty perception.
Let no consequence blind.

We traverse our lives as queens; unconfined.
Yet, we are cursed to remain following pawn.
Comfort past quiets the mind.
Let no consequence blind.
