They already captured ROCOR, which had traditionally balanced the “Blood and Soil” approach from Moscow. Now they’re all firmly on team. OCA & the Antiochians have been captured by evangelical nutters. Don’t expect the Orthodox Church to take any principled stand here.

We have a family friend who soon will begin working at the Vatican in Cannon Law. I asked him about this conclave and he mentioned that these Cardinals do not know each other well. Pope Francis did not have as many gatherings that brought all of them together.
