No one has yet been able to answer my fundamental question: why should anyone bother playing through a story that no one bothered to write?????? Players want and DESERVE good story crafted by artisans, not AI slop.

I think some people hate that stories aren't catered directly to them. They only want a power fantasy that tells them they're amazing at everything they do and challenges nothing about either them or the world. Those people love the idea of AI. Those people also don't usually play games.

The way I see it, AI slop is appealing in 1 specific aspect: BIG. In genres where "big" is a substantial part of the selling point (openworld), bigger, which AI can technically do, sounds like better. Of course thats a surface-level way of thinking and in reality it would be utter garbage content.

Only small upside is keeping it a patent would hopefully limit the use of similar crap like this. Still sucks and if a game did implement it I assume they did other uses of generative stuff and clearly not worth the time or money for what they are remaking.
