anyway happy #wipwednesday!! the next chapter of far away and dreaming, aka my armgeddon au, is coming along, i promise! i hope to have an update soon, but here's a little bit from the upcoming chapter. we are getting very close to liftoff! just a few more training days to go for the crew!🙏🌏☄️👨‍🚀🚀🌌🛰💥

“Good afternoon,” Stede suddenly said from behind him, as if Ed had somehow summoned him with his thoughts, but then every thought left his head when he turned around to see Stede’s rectangular form shoved into a tight, black wetsuit.

“Uh, hey,” Ed managed to say while gawking at how the neoprene clung to Stede’s upper thighs and resisting every urge to slam him up against the nearest wall and kiss him about how good he looked.

“Did you sleep all right?” Stede asked as he hugged a 6-pack of apple juice boxes to his chest.

Why does he have juice boxes? Ed thought as his eyes traveled past the juice and up to Stede’s beautiful, crooked smile. “Yeah,” he said as he glanced around to make sure there was no one in earshot, even though he didn't think they were fooling anyone anymore, “but I wish I could have gotten a goodnight kiss.”

Stede seemed flustered by that as he quickly looked down to the ground in an attempt to hide his smile. “Maybe later…” he said quietly, and just as Ed was about to ask what was up with the juice, the woman in charge of safety at the pool, who everyone just called Auntie, stomped up to them.

“No,” she said firmly as she waved her finger around in the air at Stede, “not today.”

“Why not?” Stede asked as he whipped his head up to look at her.

“Because I’ve got 8 rookies going down there today to keep tabs on, so I don’t have time to worry about you too.”

yeah sure writing about ed and stede having sex is cool, but have you tried writing about ed watching stede test his blood sugar so they can make sure it's safe for him to go scuba diving?

Love to see this highly specific representation! My wife has T1D and all our friends' kids have learned that there are always juice boxes and fruit snacks at our house. (Also, my wife's inner Ed is never more evident than when they are cussing their blood sugar and rage bolusing.)

In the movie the character Stede is based on has an unspecified disability that prevented him from becoming an astronaut, so I opted to go with T1D for Stede since my dad had it and I was familiar. Stede also has a giant box of fruit snacks in his desk and Lucius carries them at all times too 😂
